AT3 for ERIS 2024

Advanced Tutorial 3 is an introduction to VLBI data reduction and imaging during the 10th European Radio Interferometry School in Granada (IAA-CSIC, September 30 – October 4, 2024). This is a very simple introduction and the page was meant only to be a follow-along tool for the in-person tutorial. For a more detailed reduction guide with more explanations, please see Jack Radcliffe's DARA tutorial (Part 1 of that is what corresponds to this ERIS intro.

Second EVN e-workshop saw high participation

JIVE organised on 25 April 2024 the second online training event for using the EVN with an aim to support first-time users of the network. This training guided participants through various steps involved in planning, proposal preparation, and scheduling EVN observations. Participants also received a general introduction about the EVN, the current capabilities of the array and the science that can be done with the network. 

New EVN seminars on the way

The European VLBI Network (EVN) has successfully concluded its latest edition of online seminars, showcasing the power of Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) in astronomical research. Throughout the first half of 2024, the EVN hosted four engaging talks that brought cutting-edge VLBI results and developments to the broader astronomical community.

Welcome to the September 2024 issue of the EVN/JIVE newsletter.

 

Next week many of us will be attending the 16th EVN Symposium in Bonn, hosted by the MPIfR and organised by Eduardo Ros and Andrei Lobanov.

The first EVN Symposium was held at Jodrell Bank in 1993 and we aim to host the 2026 meeting in Manchester and Jodrell Bank too.
